What does Roam Like At Home mean?

Roam Like At Home is the roaming plan we have been applying since 15 June 2017. Scarlet already had a similar roaming plan since April 2016.

How does this plan work?

Roam Like At Home allows the customer to use his mobile in the same way in an EU country as in Belgium, without extra charges!

When did this plan come into effect?

For our customers Roam Like At Home was launched on 15 June 2017.

I have a Scarlet postpaid Red subscription, how does it work?

It's simple. Your Scarlet postpaid Red bundle consists of 300 minutes, unlimited text messages and 1 GB data volume. When you are in Belgium and you call someone, send a text message or surf the net, your usage is deducted from your bundle. Your bundle is also available in the EU.
Some examples:

• You are in Poland and you call a Belgian or Greek number: the minutes used will be deducted from your bundle.
• You are in Iceland and you surf on Twitter or Facebook: the MB's used will be deducted from your bundle.
• You are in Malta and you receive a call on your mobile: nothing will be deducted from your bundle, receiving calls is free.
• You are in Croatia and you receive a text message: nothing will be deducted from your bundle, receiving text messages is free.

In which countries can I use Roam Like At Home?

Roam Like At Home is available in all EU and EFTA countries.
Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France (+ Guadeloupe, Guyana, Martinique, Monaco, Réunion, Saint Barthélemy, Saint-Martin), Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom (+ Gibraltar)

What is roaming?

Roaming is a term in telecommunications that allows a user to use the services of his operator on another network than his own.
For example: I am a Scarlet Mobile customer and I am traveling in Germany. Without roaming, it would be impossible to make an outgoing call, receive a call, send a text message, etc. in Germany. But, thanks to roaming my mobile is connected to a network in Germany (e.g. O2, Telekom, Vodafone, etc.) that allows me to use the services of my operator (Scarlet).

What is not considered as Roaming?

When you live in Belgium and you call a German fixed or mobile number. This is considered an international call.

And how does it work if I have the Extra mobile Internet option?

Once again, we keep it simple. Your Extra Internet volume is part of your bundle.

And the option to call to Scarlet Mobile too?

Of course! Even this option is valid in roaming. Handy, isn’t it?

What happens if my bundle is finished?

Well..., if your bundle is finished, it's finished! That makes sense, right? But here too, the solution is straightforward. The out-of-bundle rates are the same in the EEA as in Belgium.

• €0.16 per minute
• €0.07 per text message
• €0.05 per MB

So you don't pay more than in Belgium!

Can I move to Spain and use my Scarlet Mobile Red subscription permanently if I want to?

Sure, but this is not what is is meant for.
The Roam Like At Home plan is subject to a Fair Use Policy (FUP). The FUP states that Scarlet has the right to notify you if there is any abuse or abnormal use of the services for a consecutive four-month period. Details of this policy can be found in our general conditionsOpens a new window .

I still have an old mobile subscription, is Roam Like At Home also available for me?

Yes Roam Like At Home is also available for older mobile subscriptions.
