It is important to know that fiber installation happens in two phases.
Fiber optic installation in your street
At this stage, you do not need to do anything. Proximus technicians work street by street to install fiber optic cables throughout the neighbourhood.
In most cases, the cables are installed discreetly along the façade of your house or building, together with a small black connection box. But in some situations, Proximus technicians may need to route the cable underground through a trench.
Connecting your home to the fiber network
When you place an order for one of our subscriptions, we first check whether your address is eligible for fibre. If it is, your product will automatically be connected to the fiber network.
Here is how it works:
- A technician comes to your home on the date you selected in advance.
- They bring the fiber optic cable into your home and, if needed, carefully drill a small hole through the façade.
- The cable is then routed to the place where you want your modem to be installed, and a connection box is placed nearby.
- The technician connects your different devices, such as your TV, computer and other equipment, to the fiber network.
- Finally, they test your connection speed and make sure your Wi-Fi is working properly.
The installation usually takes between 2 and 4 hours. The good news is that your connection will only be interrupted for a short moment, so you can continue your day without stress.
