Exploring the web space: comprehensive guide

Since November 23, 2020, it is no longer possible to activate new web spaces. Please note: customers who activated this option before that date can continue using the service.

You can always access your web space at http://home.scarlet.be/~username, where « username » is your Internet subscription username. To make it easier to access your web space, you can create an alternative Internet address, also called an alias.

A standard 100 MB of web space is included in all subscriptions. Unfortunately, this available space cannot be expanded.

The homepage of your web space should always be renamed to index.html.

To upload files, it's best to use FTP software. FileZilla is an example of free FTP software that you can download.
Please note: FileZilla is offered by a third party. We do not provide support for the installation of this software, nor do we provide support in case of problems.

  1. Open FileZilla.
  2. Enter this information at the top of the screen:
    • Host: home.scarlet.be
    • Username: your username
    • Password: your password

  3. Click on Quickconnect.
    • Local site (left) shows the files on your computer.
    • Remote site (right) shows the files on the Scarlet server.
  4. Double-click on the pubwww folder to open it.
  5. To upload files to your Scarlet web space, move the desired files from Local site (left) to Remote site (right).

For security reasons, it is only possible to connect via FTP through a connection from another Belgian or Dutch provider.

Databases are not supported by our web spaces. You can therefore create web pages only in HTML.

Scripting is not supported by our web spaces. You can therefore create web pages only in HTML.

Unfortunately, we do not offer scripting or database support, not even paid support.

After the termination of your subscription, your web space remains available for a period of 6 months. During this time, you should back up any important data.
