How to disable the 'leave a copy of messages on the server' option?

When you download your e-mail messages via your personal e-mail program, they are no longer stored on our e-mail servers, unless you have activated the option in your e-mail program to leave a copy of the messages on the server.

To prevent your mailbox from quickly reaching its maximum volume, it is better to deactivate this option. If you still want to activate this option, it is recommended that you do not keep the messages for more than two days.

To disable this option in the most common e-mail programs:

With Windows Mail, Outlook Express & Incredimail:

  • Click on Extra (Tools) and select Account Setup.
  • Select the e-mail account you want to modify and click on the Properties button.
  • Then go to the Advanced tab.
  • Uncheck the Leave a copy of messages on server check box and click OK.

Apple Mail:

  • From the Mail menu, select Preferences and then Accounts.
  • Select the email account you want to change.
  • Then go to the Advanced tab.
  • Check the Remove message from server after download selection box and select Immediately.
  • Save the changes.

  • Click on Extra (Tools) and select Account Setup.
  • Select the email account you wish to modify and select Server settings.
  • Uncheck the Leave a copy of messages on server check box and click OK.
