Modernization of the mobile network
The evolution of the Proximus network
The Scarlet mobile network just got better, here's what changed
From 2021 to 2024, Proximus carried out a major upgrade of its mobile network across Belgium. The work was done in several phases, zone by zone.
To support the increased mobile data traffic, Proximus iimplemented technical improvements and network optimizations. And the results are in, here’s what changed:
- Better coverage both indoors and outdoors.
- A reduction in total energy consumption.
- Fewer antenna masts, and thus less visual pollution
During the works, if there was any risk of service impact, you were informed in advance, no action was needed on your part.
What is the impact on your services?
Have you received a message that your mobile services may experience disruptions due to this work? Then this might be the following impact.
- Interruptions for mobile calling and browsing.
- Delayed sending and receiving of text messages.
Mobile coverage in the intervention area may be significantly reduced or even temporarily unavailable depending on your location. We keep these interruptions as short as possible, ranging from 8 to 38 hours, but we always aim for the shortest timeframe.
All fixed services (internet, TV, and landline telephony) will continue to work, as well as mobile calling, browsing, and texting outside the region where we are working.
Important information
Important: If you need to contact emergency services during the works in your region, do so using the number 112 (and not 100 or 101).
